Microsoft still getting hijacked, a robot did an inoperable operation successfully, Gen Z ?!?!
Moin moin!
I received some feedback that this typical newsletter format is too boring for you. Therefore, I will play around with the formats.
We talked last week about HasiCorps license change for its products as Terraform and Vault. However, the FOSS community strikes back. Within one week, hundreds of companies, projects and individuals agreed on an OpenTerraform way. This is one of the reasons why I found the open-source community so fascinating. Will this change the mind of HashiCorp? Or will we see a new standard out there supported by a well-established foundation and hundreds or thousands of contributors? Last Friday, the OTF people published an update that they are working hard to contribute the Terraform source code to a FOSS foundation, most likely CNCF. From a hero story to the fail of the month… year.
Over one month ago, Microsoft explained that they got hacked, and the intruders had practically unlimited access to Azure for a, so far, not further specified time. Now it comes out that Microsoft’s signing keys keep getting hijacked. I mean, for real? In Europe, practically any company trusts “you” because you are MS, but you don’t get your security done right. 🤮

This could be the guiding phrase of the MS Sec Team
Gen Z - a legacy, a mystery
The biggest personal challenge in the following years
I have spent dozens of hours trying to understand Gen Z better, by reading different sources and watching docus and interviews with “Gen Z Experts”. And you need to know I’m just like 4-6 years out of the Gen Z range, so I always felt quite connected to that generation. But, holy bee, I was wrong.
First, and most obviously, there is no one Gen Z. It is a broad spectrum. But what makes us feel it is this large group is that we are talking about a global phenomenon. While boomers were heavily disconnected from each others cultural development, Gen Z is super connected. A big point, thereby, is that American news and culture are getting pushed massively unidirectional. This leads to one of the joint behaviors of Gen Z: Anxiety. In almost every documentation or article I read, everyone expresses their concerns and insecurity about their future.
Another common observation is a mind of missing commitment and continuous search. That gives the impression that Gen Z has honey bees on their ass. This is slightly different for millennials, who deliver a high commitment and are also open to new opportunities. Research by Oliver Wyman showed that 62% of Gen Z are continuously searching for a new job. However, 60% of the millennials are also on the hunt.
Gen Z will be a challenge. What is your experience? How do you see it?
