What Azure reveals us about the Cloud market, Sam says your jobs are gone, oh Metaverse
Let’s get started. My first little drop into the ocean of newsletters.
Microsofts little leak draws a new picture of the cloud market
Sam Altman et al. believe you will lose your job if you don’t adapt
Opinion: Metaverse is dead. Long live the Metaverse.
And don’t skip the treasure hunt 🎯

Microsofts leak shows a little ‘upsi’ on the cloud market
The Microsoft Corp.’s ActivisionBlizzard hearing and the leaked documents on this draw a new picture of the cloud market.
Based on these documents, analysts calculated that Azure has a significantly smaller market share than expected. Around 25% less! This repositions AWS above the 50% line. AWS should have, therefore, in 2022 twice as much revenue as Azure.
Big losers in this game are GCP, Alibaba and co, which only have a minor positive change in their share.
🚨 Most relevant: based on these numbers, the market is expected to be 10% smaller; and will most likely grow by around 18% from '22 to '23.
SiliconAngel put all numbers together. Enjoy that insightful read.
You will lose your job
Maybe not now, perhaps not tomorrow, but most likely in the future.
"A lot of people working on AI pretend that it's only going to be good; it's only going to be a supplement; no one is ever going to be replaced. Jobs are definitely going to go away, full stop."
How shocking … well, no, not really. Looking realistically at the current madness around AI, the impact on how we will do some jobs will definitively change. Those who will not learn to leverage such tools might lose their affiliation. As Oded Netzer, a Columbia Business School professor, says in this interview, "You will not be replaced by AI but by someone who knows what to do with AI".
I like to see it this way: Yes, AI will change our way of work, yes, jobs will be gone, no, that’s nothing for this year or the next one. Looking into the products appearing daily which have “some AI” inside shows that we first have to go through this whole cycle of growth and consolidation. So let’s get your FOMO out of your way, play with AI, and identify what could be useful for your work, but don’t try to keep an eye on the whole market.
